To win $80 million Powerball seems like only a distant dream. For one lucky Victorian couple, this dream came true!

It was a long and anticipating wait to find out who won the recent $80 million Powerball, but finally 4 days after the draw they were found! After purchasing their ticket in the $80 million Powerball, life begun to get busy (as we can all imagine). They said “With everything else going on at the moment I didn’t remember to check my ticket on Thursday night as I would usually do, so I only checked the ticket late last night”.

The couple from Mornington Peninsula jumped online to check their tickets and “When I scanned the first one on my phone, it said ‘no win’. I did the next one, and there was confetti all over my phone.

“I think I’ve won something.”

So other members of the family started scanning the ticket and nothing was sinking in. I just didn’t believe it.”

They were in such shock and knew they could not lose sight of their winning ticket! They said “I’ve been safeguarding that ticket ever since. The ticket came to bed with me last night”.

What an exciting moment for the family. They were all in such disbelief that they “…even scanned it again this morning, and the confetti was still there so it must be true.”

They aren’t sure how they will use their winnings yet, but they do know they’d like to buy a new house and go on a holiday once the COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted. “The main thing at the moment is getting through what we’re all going through. Our health is really important, and we want to concentrate on getting through this period”.

“When it passes, we’ll be ready to enjoy the prize.  It gives us enormous peace of mind and freedom. There’s lots to worry about at the moment, but we don’t need to worry about money any more”.

They never thought they’d win $80 million Powerball – but like they said… “You’ve got to be in it to win it”!
