Rutherglen Retirees Plan to Travel with $15,000,000

“You have no idea what this means for us! I just can’t believe it!”

A recently retired couple from the small town of Rutherglen in north-eastern Victoria have travel on the mind after learning their ticket was an Oz Lotto winner. They walked away winning an entire $15,000,000 Oz Lotto jackpot!

“Paris, Rome, London – we’ve been before but we are going back again!”

After waiting overnight for the life-changing phone call from lottery officials, the winning wife said the news was still sinking in. They had checked their email that morning and gotten confirmation that they had won something. But they weren’t sure exactly how much.

“We checked the numbers online and thought we may have won [the jackpot] but we were just waiting for your phone call.”

“We had breakfast and sat here and… waited!”

She explained that her husband was newly retired. The winnings would now allow them to start planning their big overseas holiday. “We love travelling overseas. But with my husband retiring early we weren’t sure when we’d be able to go. Now we are!”

The winning couple played a 12-game Standard ticket, purchased from a local newsagency, with the same numbers they had been playing for years. “We play the same numbers every week; we chose them at random a long time ago but we’ve just kept playing them.” She added that while the numbers had no significance when they chose them, they definitely did now.

The winning numbers from Oz Lotto draw 1233 on the 3^rd of October were 43, 36, 7, 30, 14, 9 and 26, plus supplementary numbers 41 and 38. There was only one Division 1 winning ticket in the draw.
