Gold Coast Man Becomes $60 Million Powerball Winner!

A Gold Coast retiree has bagged himself $60 million after the $60 million Powerball draw on 8 November 2018. The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, took home the entire Division 1 prize after being the only person to successfully pick all 7 winning numbers plus the Powerball number in draw 1173.

The retired winner, who lives in Burleigh Heads, told officials he’d share his winnings with his family, and although retired, he said he’ll make the most of his Division 1 prize.

“I’m retired, but I’m young enough that I will still have plenty of time to enjoy it… I’m over the moon. It’s just life-changing. I’m shaking.” he said.

This is the second-largest Division 1 prize ever won by a single entry in Australian lottery history! The largest Division 1 prize was collected by a Hervey Bay couple in 2016. It’s also the first time in 5 years the $60 million Powerball prize has been won.

When asked if he played Powerball regularly, the winner revealed he played on large jackpots but had never won a prize of this size.

“I usually grab a ticket when there is a large jackpot… I have been playing it on and off since the game started and have never won anything more than $600!” he said.

The winning numbers for Powerball draw 1173 were 29, 35, 12, 30, 17, 23, 15 and the Powerball was 10.
