The family had recently been through hard times in the little farming town 140km south of Perth.

“It will change our lives for the better but it certainly won’t change us,” he said at the time. “I’ve always wanted to secure a future for my children and take my wife shopping for a home we can actually call our own for the first time. Now we can do all that.”

He explained how they had been working overtime for the past 10 years in order to provide for their family, and that the life-changing windfall would take the pressure off, but that they planned to keep working for the foreseeable future.
