Big Lotto Winners Take Home Multi-Millions

The two big lotto winners  have claimed their multi-million dollar prizes! A family from Harvey, a town in south-west Western Australia, won $40,000,000 in a Oz Lotto draw. Meanwhile, a Sydney syndicate of ten members shared a $30,000,000 Powerball jackpot.

The two big wins are the latest in a year of large windfalls for Australian lotto players. In February, a man from northern New South Wales was the sole winner of the $30,000,000 Oz Lotto jackpot. That same month, an Oz Lotteries member won the entire $25,000,000 Powerball jackpot. Stunned, she spoke to Oz Lotteries following the win. She described how she had purchased her 18-game Standard ticket through the Oz Lotteries app.

The woman from West Footscray in Melbourne was “super excited” to receive the news. Especially after telling a family member that she was finally going to win lotto in 2016! She said she had been a regular player since joining Oz Lotteries in 2012, but usually played 10-game tickets.

When setting up her ticket in the Oz Lotteries app, she realised she had selected the default number of 18 games, and decided to play the extra 8. In an amazing stroke of luck, the 17th game aligned with all 7 numbers and hit the jackpot!

Other big winners of 2016

Some other winners include grandparents from Hervey Bay. They kicked off the year in style after winning the $70,000,000 Powerball jackpot in January. Meanwhile, a Perth family had the most memorable Christmas of their lives with their $30,000,000 Oz Lotto prize in December 2015.

The massive $70,000,000 Powerball jackpot in November 2015 was shared by three players. One couple from the mid-north coast of New South Wales. A family from Ayr in north Queensland.
