$80 Million Powerball Winner is an Oz Lotteries...

It’s been an exciting day for many with last night’s $80 Million Powerball results creating Powerball winners across the country. Oz Lotteries CEO, Mike Veverka, spoke with the winner this morning to congratulate him and see how he was feeling about the Powerball results.

He explained that he was quite sleep-deprived after discovering the results. He learnt of the win when checking his ticket mid-shift after the draw. Fortunately, he was working with his wife and could share the life-changing moment with her.

Lockdown millionaire

Not only is he a new multi-millionaire, but he also takes the record for the biggest lottery win ever by a Victorian! 

He revealed it was a life-changing moment for him and his family. Sadly, the winner shared that he had lost his job as a chef during the sixth Victorian lockdown. He had just purchased a home and has been struggling to make ends meet. He has been working as a cleaner ever since.

Despite the terrible turn of events over the last few months, the man has remained optimistic. 

“Like for so many people, these lockdowns have been really tough for our family. But I’ve always said, you’ve just gotta keep trying. Now, look what’s happened.” 

“Absolutely unbelievable”

With an extreme windfall, we asked the winner if he had any extreme plans. He shared that he was still in a state of disbelief and wouldn’t be able to make any real plans until he has the funds in his account. However, he’s certain that he ultimately wants to have a happy life with his family and help others. 

“I am certainly keen to pay off the mortgage and the other bills we have to begin with. We’re going to set our kids up for life.”

“I am going to try and help everyone. There’s so much we will be able to do with this prize.”
